My Turn....
A personal ordeal has caused me to think about the power of our legal system and just how far reaching it can be, possibly affecting each and every one of us as we struggle to make our way in this life. Our society has become so lawsuit oriented that our legal system is almost completely out of control. What about the horror of imminent domain and other such atrocities which are handed down against us while we have no voice in the matter? How many of these cases have been established on precedent rather than on constitutional law? And how many of the precedents used were based upon a foundation of untruthfulness just as in the situation in which I now find myself ?
One night in about 2002 my son asked me, “Dad, have you ever done a Google on your name? I put your name in the other night to see if I could find any family we didn’t know about, and WOW you should see what YOUR name brings up!” This is how I found out, some four to six years after the initial hearings, that allegations had been made concerning me during the testimony of a trial without my knowledge and without my ever being given a chance to testify in my own behalf.
Sometime around 1997 a female coworker of mine took my employer to court in what was essentially a sexual discrimination case. In a nutshell, her claim was that some of her male coworkers had refused to follow her instructions and directions only because she was a woman and that an unknown person had put Bible verses in her inbox. In actuality, someone was putting these Bible verses in all of the employee’s inboxes. Because of previous conversations about the Bible that she and I were a part of, she wrongly assumed that I was the one putting the verses in everyone’s inboxes. For those of you who are reading this who may not have the time or patience to read this in its entirety, allow me to say now that I was not a defendant in this case, was never even called upon to give a deposition or to testify, and no charges were ever brought against me.
I am greatly saddened that this false accusation has been circulated without any chance for me to have a voice, as I have always attempted to treat all of humanity with respect and dignity. I have great respect for womankind and all that they mean to our society.
I have spoken with four attorneys hoping to find a way to defend myself, but it seems that this is now a matter of public record and there is nothing to be done. How could this happen in America that one could be falsely accused in such a public way without any real chance to defend one’s good name?
Since I’ve seen firsthand the awesome power and finality of our legal system, I am determined to fight to bring to a close this era of frivolous lawsuits and activist judges who are legislating from the bench instead of applying our God-given Constitution which will ensure our freedoms.
